1. 1.  What does sustainably grown mean?

Sustainable agriculture is a way of raising food that is healthy for consumers and animals, does not harm the environment, is humane for workers, respects animals, provides a fair wage to the farmer, and supports and enhances communities.

  2. 2.  Why organic or sustainably grown food over conventionally grown?

Food that has been grown using sustainable methods means your food is void of synthetic pesticides, artificial hormones, or antibiotics. Research reveals that prolonged exposure to pesticide residues may increase the risk of various cancers and neurological problems (such as Parkinson's disease), as well as impair the immune system.  Sustainable farming increases soil quality, worker safety and reduces toxic runoff; helping to create a sustainable food system that will provide nutritious food for many generations to come.

  3. 3.  Why isn't everything certified organic?

Best said by King Farm Family Market:

"We do apply organic practices but for us 'organic' is more than a business strategy or grocery product category.  It's a way of looking at the world and a guidepost to making daily decisions that mirror the natural law of living organisms with an emphasis on interdependence of all life."

Some farms have chosen not to go through the certification process.  We know our farmers and their practices. Their transparency enables us to provide you with food that is grown using organic methods if not certified.

    4.  Where do we get our food?

  4. We source our food from our local partner farmers and organic farms in neighboring regions to supplement our diversity.  All of our products will include their origin so you can decide how close to home is right for you.

  5.

    5.  What if you do not have something I want?

We are proud to support local, sustainable farmers and their seasonal efforts.  This means our supply may be limited or highly variable.  Please contact us if you do not see something you are looking for.  If we do not have it or cannot supply it we will help you find another source.

  6. 6.  How do I know when the delivery will arrive?

Deliveries are made each Saturday between the hours of 4am and 8am. We will be sure not to wake anyone; no door bells will be rung or knockers knocked.  Please check your doorstep Saturday mornings by 8am for your weekly delivery.

  7. 7.  Do I have to be home to accept my order?

We package your purchase in an insulated reusable bag made from recycled material.  Inside your bag you will not only find your goodies but we may add a reusable ice pack to keep things cool (depending on what has been ordered).  The insulated bag helps sustain your delivery for up to 1 hour while it waits in a shaded area for you to arrive home.  You can also leave out a cooler for us to place your delivery in for added protection from the elements.

  8.

    8.  What if something arrives damaged?

Your satisfaction is our guarantee.  We know our farmers supply us only the best they have to offer.  And we package in a way to maintain its integrity.  On the rare occasion you receive anything that may be unacceptable we will gladly credit your account.  Just give us a call or send us a message.  Credit cards are charged by Wednesday on the week following your delivery.  Please contact us before then so we may credit your account accordingly.

  9.

    9. What do I do with my delivery bag and ice pack after delivery?

We strive to be as waste free as possible.  On your next scheduled delivery day please leave both the reusable bag and ice pack out for us to pick up.  We will reuse both the delivery bag and cold pack for future deliveries.   If you have decided to stop deliveries please send us an email or give us a call so we can arrange to pick up your bag on our next scheduled route.
